Causing Others To Sin

Causing others to sin, helping others to sin and making it easier for others to sin are some of the worst sins. Causing others to sin multiplies sin. For example, making it legal to kill innocent unborn babies makes it easier for others to sin. Perverting the law, keeping others from Jesus are particularly grievous. For leaders to teach the Bible correctly but not live it themselves is sin. The Bible is critical of those who teach the Bible correctly but set bad examples.

Isaiah 3:12b: . . . O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

Isaiah 9:14-16: Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day. 15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail. 16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

Matthew 15:12: Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? 13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

The ones we should leave alone are the blind leaders, not necessarily the blind followers.

Matthew 18:2-6: And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Teaching just parts of the Bible takes those parts out of the context of the Bible and is another way to lead others astray. To avoid that pitfall we need to study the whole Bible for ourselves. The more we neglect the Bible the more we will sin and the more we will cause others to sin.

Acts 20:27: For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

We must be careful to follow leaders who are following Jesus. We will be held accountable for that.

1 Corinthians 11:1: Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Philippians 3:17: Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

If we follow leaders who are following Jesus we will hear their voices AND the voice of Jesus. If we follow those who are not following Jesus, we will hear ONLY their voices. Big mistake.
